Who we are

HSKacer is an online Chinese vocabulary learning service. For privacy questions contact contact@hskacer.com.

Data we collect

Account data: email address, display name, and authentication identifiers when you register (handled via our authentication provider).

Study data: vocabulary progress, session history, preferences, starred words, folders, and similar learning activity needed to run the product.

Subscription data: plan status, and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers when you subscribe to Pro. Payment card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored on our servers.

Technical data: basic logs and device/browser information needed for security, debugging, and reliable delivery of the service.

Communications: messages you send us (for example feedback or support emails).

How we use data

To create and manage your account, sync study progress, and provide Free and Pro features.

To process subscriptions and payments through Stripe.

To respond to support requests and improve the product.

To protect the service against abuse and to comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Contract: providing the service you requested (account, study features, paid subscription).

Legitimate interests: securing the service, preventing fraud, and basic product analytics that are necessary to operate a reliable app.

Consent: where required (for example optional marketing emails — we do not send marketing emails unless you opt in).

Legal obligation: when the law requires us to retain or disclose information.

Processors and third parties

We use trusted providers to run the service, including hosting, authentication/database (Supabase), and payments (Stripe). They process data only as needed to provide their services to us.

We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

We keep account and study data while your account is active. You may request deletion (see Your rights). Subscription and billing records may be retained as required for tax, accounting, and dispute resolution.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us at the email below. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

HSKacer is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
